Circle time is when the class or individual groups of preschool children gather in one area for a particular activity. This could be storytime, playing stay-in-place games, singing, or any other group activity. This type of activity is important to young children in a variety of developmental goals. Learning Language
Preschool circle games, like Simon Says, involve repetitive use of language to promote ideas like ”touch your head” and learning to listen carefully to make sure the commands are correctly understood. As an interactive language tool, group activities help children learn with their peers in a fun way. Community and Interaction Circle time teaches children to take turns and to respect other members of the group. This hones vital social skills that will evolve into understanding that the need and wants of others are equal to our own and that each of us has a part to play in the community as a whole. Building Self-Worth When children get to take an active role in activities, it makes them feel good about themselves and important to others. Building a child’s self-esteem promotes learning, enhances communication, and helps children understand the importance of being personally responsible for their actions. Circle Time and Shyness Gathering in a small circle of friends helps children be more open and communicative. It helps overcome shyness and promotes taking an active role. Singing games are especially useful in this regard, but the circle itself is an important aspect in helping children present themselves more clearly. Crowd Control Circle activities allow the student guides to maintain order and discipline in a more passive redirection. Children who are consciously being disruptive can be headed off at the path, and turn-taking can be enforced as needed. Without actively instructing children to follow along, they are given encouragement to take an active and responsible role. From counting to calisthenics, circle activities engage, inform, and educate children through play-based group activities. The benefits are enormous and cover a wide range of muscular, intellectual, and interactive skills. Comments are closed.
