Daycare children love to play, and through playing they develop and learn. These popular outdoor activities are loads of fun on the surface but offer educational and developmental benefits if you look at them a little more closely. Shot Put Pumpkins
Using miniature pumpkins and gourds may not be the most efficient, but it is definitely entertaining for daycare children. All you need for this game are a few miniature pumpkins, a little flour, and outdoor spaces. Use the flour to mark the start line and each landing location for a throw. This activity is perfect for developing fine motor control and learning to follow instructions, which is part of the Montessori method. You can use balls, stones, or pine cones if you prefer, or explore basic physics by mixing and matching. Sack Hops For this activity, you need one old pillowcase for each child, and to set up a start and finish line. Before the races, let the kids decorate their pillowcase using watercolors or washable markers. This simple activity is an excellent way to develop muscle tone and coordination in small children. For even more fun, put together an obstacle course that children must hop through. Treasure Hunting Your yard is filled with treasure to be found by inquisitive minds. For this outdoor activity, you can choose a few items to “hunt” for, or simply give your child a pail and send them off in search of interesting things. The first option keeps things organized, but the second one will provide more learning opportunities for the children as you can discuss their treasure troves and why they chose those things. Daycare children need all the physical exercise they can get. It helps them develop bones and muscles, and teaches them about their physical capabilities and how to interact with their immediate environment. These are activities that you can revisit many times and note the progress made through repeated use. Comments are closed.
